Orthodontics is a great profession. Each day I enjoy the relationships I’ve built with my patients over the years. I believe we are giving them a great smile which will help in so many aspects of their life—not just the health of their teeth, but their self-esteem. That’s why we’re here: to create beautiful and confident smiles. It’s a life-changing experience for my patients, as well as for myself.
My interest in the field of dentistry began in high school while observing in a family friend's office. This is where I began to realize that a beautiful smile makes a big difference in a person's life, and I wanted to be a part of that difference. I want each patient to know that they are my number-one priority, and that they will have my undivided attention during their appointment. My staff and I want each patient to have a great, memorable experience.
Education and Continuing Education
I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I then completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Texas, Houston, before earning my Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
It is vital to stay up to date on the latest techniques and procedures in my field. Orthodontics and the ways to move teeth are changing every year with new techniques, and I feel it is very important to keep up with these advanced procedures to offer my patients the best possible care. Every year, I participate in the Invisalign® study club, the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting, and many other continuing education courses. I also stay involved with the Texas Dental Association and the Capital Area Dental Society.
In the Community
Prior to entering my orthodontic residency, I practiced general dentistry for three years. During this time, I gave back to the community by working with the VA, Indian Health Services, and the UNLV faculty practice. I also have enjoyed serving as a dentist on international mission trips to Nicaragua and India. Now, I have been able to volunteer for Keep Austin Beautiful, and be involved with Austin Pet Alive and Soles for Souls providing shoes for the needy around the globe.
Outside the Office
In my spare time, I love exploring the great outdoors of Austin. If I'm not on the river or lake, you will most likely find me trail running and biking at Lady Bird Lake, playing tennis, or listening to live music. I thoroughly enjoy living here and being a part of this great community.
